at the park with aidan

More New England vacay shots ....

This morning we [briefly! brrrr] visited a park in Portsmouth, NH. My sweet nephew Aidan has been as patient as a five-year-old can be--actually more so--while we've dragged him all over New Hampshire and Maine over the past three days. So today was his day. We asked him what he wanted to do, and "the park" was his answer.

Did I mention it was freezing? Literally.

So here are some images of Aidan ... running, climbing, sliding, rocking, and generally completely oblivious to the frigid temperatures and brutal wind.

Me, stalking Aidan with my camera:

an apple [cider donut] a day

Two things:

(1) I can count on one hand the number of donuts I've eaten in the past decade. I mean let's be honest: Who among us allows ourselves the sinful pleasure of donut noshing?

(2) Prior to my current visit to New Hampshire, I'd never tasted an apple cider donut.

Both of these unfortunate realities have been remedied during my current vacay. We visited a local Hampton orchard a couple of days ago. And guess what they had? Hint: I have now thoroughly enjoyed sampling the incredibly tasty apple cider donut.

Are these little guys are getting ready to make their donut debut?Folks ... we have donuts.Aidan and me, with apple cider donut-filled bellies:

It was lovely meeting you, apple cider donuts. We'll talk again.

happy halloween {from NH}

Flew from Texas to New Hampshire to spend some much needed time (a) away from work, and (b) with my sister and her brood (since my last visit, baby Paige made her debut and the leaves have changed from green to red and gold). I'm currently blogging from outside, surrounded by frisky dogs, a 4-year-old on a jeep, pine cones, and a blustery wind.

It's nice to almost relax (I'm getting there!).

H A L L O W E E N -- one of my favorite days of the year. And this one is particularly special.

Some shots of Aidan (one of my precious nephews) from yesterday/last night.

that's how I [lobster] roll

Judging by my blog as of late, one would assume all we do in our fam is eat. I won't lie: We're foodies, for sure. But perhaps more relevantly, I typically have my camera with me when we're doing the meal thing.

Today is my last day in New Hampshire with my sweet nephew (oh, and his parents, too). We grabbed more seafood for lunch. From the live critters in the front, to the plastic cup of vino, to the high school boys unloading the fresh catch in the back, it was an entertaining experience.

How can you go wrong with a place called "Al's?"
Whale watching, anyone?
Some random, "decorative" buoys in the foyer that reminded me of ginormous bottles of Clicquot.
I went for the lobster roll. And I might have ordered some seafood-stuffed mushrooms too. Sue me.
Love me some oysters. Maybe next time?
The aforementioned plastic cup of wine. Cracked me up. But it was surprisingly refreshing.
Seafood-stuffed mushrooms. They were great, and I should've stopped there ...
... but I didn't ... ahem.
Lobster roll.
Aidan, giving me some lovin'.
About to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Yes. We. Are.
:)
