I've spent the past several days driving along the New Hampshire & Maine coast. So much to see, so little time. But something has caught my eye: the abundance of charming doors.
I love doors.
Different colors. Different textures. Different sizes. Different shapes. Doors that face unusual directions. Love 'em.
Here are a few in particular that I captured on film.
I love, love, love a black and white color scheme. Perhaps that's why I'm intrigued by the hint (or a little more!) of chalkboard, used as a splash of decorating genius. Since hand-written additions can change on a whim, decorating with a chalkboard is versatile as heck. And if you can't find just the right chalkboard, grabbing a can of chalkboard paint and throwing it up on a wall is a piece of cake.
It's a challenge to imagine anything that says "welcome" more so than a red door.
I noticed several while out and about town yesterday, prompting me to come home and peruse my biggest cyber weakness, Etsy, for red door art. Not surprisingly, they "house" a terrific selection--I was pleased to discover that so many others share my obsession! There's just something about those glittering garnet gateways (how's that for alliteration!) that makes me want to discover what's on the other side.
So here's my tribute--borrowed from other aficionados--to red doors:
I'm an opinionated lass, living in Oxford, MS (how'd that happen?), taking time for good food, drink, and friends. I'm forever on a quest for quality farmers' markets & roadside boutiques, life's answers, and the perfect camera shot. And I really love me some Jesus.
