fleurty girl

Last week in New Orleans I visited the most darling little shop, Fleurty Girl, owned by NOLA native, Lauren Thom. We just happened to be strolling through the French Quarter when Lauren's super comfy (and stylish) display of Feelgoodz flip flops (a company owned by her boyfriend) in the store's front entry caught our eyes. In addition to the saucy sandals, we weren't disappointed by the bounty that awaited us inside: everything from bling to art to tees to bags to shoes ... Fleurty Girl was a veritable cornucopia of all that I love :).

Not only did Lauren take the time to chat with us about her favorite city, she also told us about her grand opening (the shop on St. Peter's Street in the French Quarter [where we stopped] had just opened the prior week), as well as her other two locales in The Big Easy. Fleurty Girl was a fantastically wonderful surprise, nestled in the heart of the French Quarter. Next time you're in the city, definitely check out all of the lime green loveliness the shop has to offer!

I truly try to have as many New Orleans-inspired products as possible in as much square footage as we have. You did a spectacular job showcasing what we are. I appreciate this so much :) Come back soon!

  11. All of Lauren's merchandise is fabulous...She is a wonderful ambassador for a wonderful city...I live in Louisiana, love NOLA and any and all good that can be said about this city and state, after all we have been through is "Never Enough." We Louisianians love and respect anyone who is brave enough to stand up for their beliefs and would fight for our Saints, state, and country...The first person in that line would be Lauren Thom...we know from experience just how she operates..so , whomever you are...Unless you know of which you speak, don't! If you find it annoying, you are not a born and bred Louisianian...and if by some unfortunate quirk of fate (for all of us) you are, SHAME ON YOU!!! Lauren, keep talking, loving, and promoting New Orleans...You are an inspiration for many people and we are so proud of you. Keep up the good work Fleurty Girl!

  13. Methinks the above Anonymous needs to proofread "TO TONE IT DOEN A LITTLE" before he/she/it criticizes Lauren and her stores.

Anonymous, you don't like it, don't shop there but please, please "tone it doen" and don't be a Debbie "Doener." Are you jealous of FG's success?

I think FG and her stores rock.

  14. As a Native Texan and former New Orleans resident, I can't describe how proud I am of Lauren! New Orleans is such a special place; like the song says: "Ya just can't get enough." No one can truly understand that unless they've lived there--you see completely different dimensions than the tourist's views. It is a city of grace, mystique, and oh so much tongue-in-cheek humor, most of it directed at itself! Lauren has given so much back to her beloved city. One example: She found out a fellow in the Treme was making tee shirts to raise money to repair his storm-damaged house. She tracked him down and instead of trying to squash out competition for her fledging business, she offered to print the shirts for him and sell them in her first Oak Street store and on her Web site. The locals love her stores, which is the best endorsement she could possibly receive. I love walking around DC and seeing someone wearing a Making Groceries tee shirt! I was in a store in North Carolina and saw some "Southern Sayings" tee-shirts, and I thought to myself: "Fleurty Girl's are way better than these." Rock on, Lauren!
